Kyla Wilder McGee, the firm’s Managing Shareholder, was raised in The Woodlands, Texas and believes strongly in empowering and building up the local businesses in her community. Wilder McGee, P.C. offers a wide range of legal services to assist you with your business needs. We help businesses in all stages of their journey –from entity formation to dissolution and everything in between. We offer advice to business owners as it relates to day-to-day operations, restructuring, drafting/reviewing contracts and agreements, and employment/contractor issues. Our goal is to provide all the resources necessary to help you run your business legally and smoothly.

Our firm offers various business coaching packages that aim to take a business to the next level. With our experience assisting businesses in all sectors, we can audit company practices, make strategic and legal suggestions with the shared goal of growing our client’s business. Coaching services are either in-person, at the client’s office location, or our office. Coaching services are charged in flat fee packages. Once the client uses up their package, they can receive additional consulting services at an hourly rate or often, clients end up signing up for additional packages. We incorporate financial and accounting specialists to assist us in offering our clients the most comprehensive and high-level coaching services available to a business owner. Our unique ability to assess a business’s strong and weak points and build from there has given us a strong presence in the business coaching and consulting industry. A trademark identifies a product as belonging to a specific company and recognizes a company’s ownership of the brand. Individuals and companies choose to have their products or services trademarked to protect the product from being used without their permission, and permission for use of a registered mark comes with a price. Furthermore, the penalties for using a registered mark without permission can be steep. If your business has a unique name or distinctive logo it is important to consider obtaining a registered mark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Our firm has created a 10-step approach to trademarking that allows clients to have more control over costs associated with trademark filings and a better understanding of the timeling of the trademark filing process. We also strongly encourage our clients to take advantage of the resources they receive once engaged as a trademarking client (10-step to trademarking handout and detailed power point on important information related to the trademarking process—from filing to prosecution of your mark.

A business’s trademark distinguishes it from other businesses and is proprietary—the primary goal of trademarking is to protect your business’s unique name or logo from being confused in commerce, or from someone else using it without your permission. After all, the uniqueness and popularity of your brand and logo should be protected at the highest level.  It is also vitally important to make sure you are not infringing on another party’s trademark before using a business name or logo in commerce. We have dealt with several very unfortunate and expensive matters related to an individual’s inadvertent use of a registered mark. Wilder McGee, P.C. provides legal services relating to all aspects of construction law to owners/developers, general contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, insurance companies, lenders, and individuals. At all stages of the construction process, our firm carefully negotiates, advises, and drafts integral documentation to promote a successful project from beginning to end. We have experience working with all levels of construction projects from a home renovation project to the construction of a series of medical office buildings. Whether you are an employer or employee, Wilder McGee, P.C. can assist you with any non-compete issue. We also strongly encourage employers with a certain number of employees to invest in our firm drafting an Employment Handbook. We have significant experience helping small businesses in all sectors create a handbook that meets their business’s needs. We also take great pride in helping our clients create employment and/or independent contractor agreements for their business. We custom tailor each agreement to meet the needs of the business we are representing. We also have experience representing employees and contractors. When it comes to negotiating your employment agreement, you want an attorney who will be an advocate for your employment needs. Employees should not be fearful to negotiate terms that fit with their lifestyle or expected employment. When working with clients in this area, we want to empower our clients to know what they are giving their employees to sign or what they are signing as an employee. Knowledge is power in this area of law and it vitally important that all business owners put written agreements in place with the individuals working for them. We charge a reasonable flat fee for our work on drafting these types of agreements.

Wilder McGee, P.C. offers a streamlined, efficient and cost-effective approach  for clients wanting to form a new business entity. Whether it be a single or multi-member entity, we can assist with setting up your company and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. We also take great pride in understanding the client’s business and structure to help them decide which entity is the best fit for their business. Entity formations are not a one size fits all approach. We charge a reasonable flat fee for entity formation packages.

The firm’s entity formation package includes the following services: 

  • Phone or In-person Consultation to discuss business needs and determine which entity would best fit your goals;
  • Filing & Completion of Documents through Secretary of State;
  • Drafting of entity agreement based on desired entity choice, and any other ancillary documents if needed;
  • We leave you with a customized leatherbound corporate book with the entity’s name and corporate documents printed and compiled;
  • Issuance of Corporate Certificates, if necessary; and
  • Informational Packet on entity of choice and important deadlines to consider going forward

Kyla Wilder McGee – Biography

Kyla Wilder McGee is a high-energy, self-motivated attorney with unique professional and practical experience in business and corporate law, employment law, including negotiating and drafting employment and noncompete agreements, trademarking, and construction law. She is passionate about representing her clients. Kyla spent her elementary school years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As an ex-pat kid, she had the opportunity to travel the world and learn about various world cultures. She also lived abroad in Prague while in law school—traveling and exploring are both passions. In middle school, her family relocated to The Woodlands, Texas where she attended The John Cooper School. Kyla went on to attend Texas A&M University (whoop) and received her bachelor’s degree in 2008. After college, Kyla attended South Texas College of Law and has been licensed to practice since 2013. After working at a couple various-sized firms, she decided to start her own practice in 2016 out of her house. Eventually, the practice grew in size, with both clients and employees, and Wilder McGee, P.C. relocated to their new office home on Oak Ridge Drive. Kyla will give an office tour to anyone willing to take it – she is proud of the zen-style space she created to make a sometimes-stressful environment seem comforting and inviting.

Kyla is married to Jacob, they reside in The Woodlands, and have a precious four-year old daughter, Stella. The John Cooper School dragon tradition will continue as Stella will be starting her Cooper journey in 2022. If you find yourself visiting Kyla’s office, you may get the opportunity to meet her beloved Wheaten Terrier, Frankie. He comes to the office with her daily. If you speak to her clients, you will learn that Kyla is a very passionate and caring attorney and always has her client’s best interests at heart. She zealously advocates for her clients in and out of the courtroom and will always take the extra steps necessary to ensure her clients are taken care of. Last, but certainly not least, one of Kyla’s proudest accomplishments is being on the Board of the Montgomery County Women’s Center. She describes her experience with the Center as the most rewarding and humbling work of her life.

Sydney Landry Grady – Associate Attorney

Sydney moved to the Woodlands from South Louisiana in fall of 2021. Following her graduation from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2020, she spent a year clerking for a judge in her hometown of Thibodaux, Louisiana. As a small-town girl, she appreciates the level of service that a boutique firm like Wilder McGee, P.C. can provide to business owners in all sectors. Sydney holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nicholls State University and is passionate about helping businesses streamline their processes. Sydney is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Louisiana. Her double licensure gives Wilder McGee, P.C. the chance to service clients in Lousiana, depending on their legal needs.

When she’s not working, Sydney enjoys reading literary fiction and participating in group fitness classes like Pilates, barre, and cycling. She also enjoys trips to local farmer’s markets and walks around the neighborhood with her husband Jake and their bichon-spaniel mix, Sammy.

Jennifer Hill – Of Counsel

Jennifer Hill is a highly qualified, resourceful, and incredibly creative attorney. If you have worked with her, you will realize her value immediately. Jennifer Hill received her undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2008 and graduated with her J.D. from Texas Tech School of Law in 2012. She has spent over a decade working in litigation and zealously advocating for clients. She continues to use that experience and approach in representing transactional clients.

After law school Jennifer worked as a criminal prosecutor and as Child Protective Services attorney in Montgomery County, Texas, increasing her experience in both civil and criminal law.  Jennifer continued her work as felony prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in the Special Victims Unit specializing in child sexual abuse cases.  She has prosecuted over 40 trials during her career and worked on thousands of cases that were resolved without trial. 

At Wilder McGee, P.C. Jennifer works with clients on business and trademarking cases to make sure that every day they receive the representation they deserve. Her attention to detail and ability to navigate through some of the toughest disputes set her apart from other attorneys. Jennifer resides in Montgomery County with her husband Tyler, eight-month-old son, Sawyer, and precious pup, Dallas.

Morgan Newman –Litigation Paralegal

Morgan Newman is a seasoned Paralegal with over 20 years of legal experience. Morgan resides in Huntsville with her husband and two children. She became Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law in 2019 and is currently studying for her board certification in Civil Trial Law and finishing her undergraduate degree. You will immediately feel supported and at ease once you have spoken with her—she supports our staff and clients so well. Morgan is a member of her church and helps teach Sunday school, she serves as PTO President, and is an active member of her Walker County community. She has been named the Republican Precinct Chair for her precinct. She loves philanthropic work, baking, coffee, and gardening. Her experience, kind heart and tenacious work ethic make her an invaluable asset to the firm.

Jessica Mouallem – Office Manager

Jessica Mouallem was raised in New York and transplanted to Texas in 2010. She attended the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership at the University of Houston, which makes complete sense if you have spoken with her –she is a true leader and strives to make sure our clients receive the highest level of service from the minute they reach out to our firm to the end. Her and her husband are local business owners in The Woodlands, which gives her a unique and invaluable perspective as it relates to business ownership. Jessica is Wilder McGee, P.C.’s trusted office manager and is ready and willing to help wherever she is needed.
